Discover a modern psychology-led approach informed by the latest in lifestyle medicine and lifestyle psychiatry — supporting whole-person wellbeing through evidence-based behavioural strategies.
Lifestyle Medicine is a growing medical discipline developed in response to rising rates of chronic disease and lifestyle-related health issues. It focuses on preventing, treating, and in some cases reversing conditions like cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity — not just through medication, but through evidence-based changes in diet, physical activity, sleep, stress, social connection, and substance use.
It was developed to shift healthcare toward
prevention and whole-person care
, recognising that many health conditions are driven by behavioural and environmental factors. While typically delivered by medical professionals, its principles have wide application in mental health and psychology, especially when addressing fatigue, low mood, or emotional dysregulation rooted in lifestyle patterns.
Lifestyle Psychiatry is an emerging field that recognises the powerful impact of lifestyle behaviours on brain health, mood, and overall mental wellbeing. It developed as a response to growing research showing that nutrition, sleep, physical activity, social engagement, and substance use play a critical role in the onset and progression of mental health conditions.
Unlike traditional psychiatry which often focuses on diagnosis and medication, lifestyle psychiatry aims to complement these approaches by addressing modifiable factors that can reduce symptoms, improve functioning, and promote recovery. It reflects a shift toward more holistic, sustainable care in mental health — and informs how psychologists and allied professionals support long-term wellbeing.
At Psych and Lifestyle, we draw on key principles from both Lifestyle Medicine and Lifestyle Psychiatry — integrating them into a psychology-based framework to support whole-person wellbeing.
Our unique blend of expertise focuses on the
prevention and management of health and mental health challenges through behavioural and lifestyle interventions. By combining psychological science with practical lifestyle strategies, we aim to offer a deeper understanding of habit change, motivation, and resilience — empowering people to create meaningful and sustainable improvements in their lives.

Research from across psychology, medicine, and psychiatry consistently shows that the way we live — what we eat, how we sleep, how we move, how we connect — profoundly influences our mental and emotional wellbeing.
Modern life has created conditions where stress, disconnection, poor sleep, and processed diets have become the norm. In response, the fields of Lifestyle Medicine and Lifestyle Psychiatry have emerged to provide structured, evidence-based approaches for restoring balance, improving resilience, and preventing illness.
But knowledge alone isn’t enough. Many people know what they “should” do — the real challenge is turning insight into action. That’s where psychology comes in.
By integrating behavioural science with lifestyle research , we support you not just in knowing what matters — but in making it happen. This approach is about building sustainable habits, understanding motivation , and helping you live in alignment with your values and goals.
Whether you're looking to reduce stress, manage fatigue, improve mood, or simply feel more in control of your wellbeing, lifestyle really does matter — and it’s something we can influence, together.
Our Lifestyle Services are distinct from our general psychological therapy services. They are designed for individuals who want to focus on enhancing wellbeing, improving lifestyle habits , and building sustainable strategies for mental and physical health — whether or not they are experiencing a diagnosed mental health condition.
These services do not attract Medicare rebates , as they are not classified as psychological treatment under a Mental Health Care Plan. Instead, they provide a coaching-style, preventative, and skills-based approach
, grounded in behavioural science and the principles of lifestyle medicine and lifestyle psychiatry.
Through structured assessments and supportive sessions, we help you:
Evaluate your current lifestyle patterns
Identify areas that may be impacting your mental or physical wellbeing
Set realistic, meaningful goals
Build new routines and mindsets that support long-term health and clarity
These sessions are suitable for individuals who are looking to be more proactive, aligned, and informed in the way they care for their health — whether that’s improving sleep, managing stress, boosting energy, or simply regaining momentum in life.
